Core Beliefs
Our Core Beliefs are intended to be a basis of fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing, 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42). There will always be doctrines that committed Christians disagree upon, but the core beliefs of Christianity are non-negotiable. Below is a list of our core beliefs:
1. The Bible is the Inspired Word of God
2. The One True God
3. Jesus Christ is the Son of God
4. The Fall of Man
5. The Salvation of Man
6. The Holy Spirit
7. The Ordinances of the Church
8. The Church and its Mission
9. The Final Judgement

2. The One True God 3. Jesus Christ is the Son of God His virgin birth, Matthew 1:18-23 His sinless life, Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22 His miracles, Acts 2:22; Acts 10:38 His substitutionary death on the cross, 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21 His bodily resurrection from the dead, Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4 His exaltation to the right hand of God. Acts 1:9; Acts 1:11; Acts 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3 Genesis 1:26,27; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6; Romans 5:12-19 The Evidence of Salvation Romans 8:16 The outward evidence is the fruit of the spirit. We become a new creation and are transformed into the image of Christ. Galatians 5:22, 23; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 2 Corinthians 3:18 |
| 6. The Holy Spirit The nine fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) are the by-product of a Spirit-filled life and evidence of spiritual maturity. The nine gifts of the Spirit are different manifestations of the Spirit to build up the body (I Cor. 12:1-11). We are instructed to diligently seek the gifts (I Cor. 12:31, 14:1), but they must be exercised in an orderly way (I Cor. 14:26-33) and in the context of love (I Cor. 13:1-13). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. The Ordinances of the Church Baptism in Water The Scripture teaches that all who repent and believe in Christ as Saviour and Lord are to be baptized by immersion. Baptism is a public profession of faith in Christ. It is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is a declaration to the world that we have died to sin and have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47,48; Romans 6:4 Communion |
